Medacy Remote – ideal for support in practice for events like Coronovirus or less dramatic challenges

This week we had planned to talk about the Medacy Remote service we offer to GP Practices. However, the scary spread of Coronovirus and the recommended advise to self-isolate and work means that this post could be really timely.

The Medacy Remote service was borne out of our location and our experience working with small practices. Many practices were built a number of years ago. At the time, the size and configuration of the space fitted the needs of the practices and patients perfectly. Unfortnately, increased list sizes and a change to multi-discliplinary working offers means the space is no longer fit for purpose. NHS Properties and Private Landlords might invest to expand but this always takes time and quite often, change is needed much more quickly.

Another reason to consider Medacy Remote is if you are struggling to recruit. Medacy Remote can switch on practice support very quickly alleviating the need to recruit locally. We know this can be challenging, especially in geographically remote areas like the Highlands, Wales, Cumbria, East Anglia and the South West. It can even be used to fill the gaps whilst you recruit.

We have provised remote services in Carlise, Kent and in Wales succesfully and are currently providing PCN support via a hybrid remote and on-site contract. It really is a flexible way of increasing or protecting access, improving safety and reducing risk.

Don’t like the sound of remote support?

Some GP and PMs don’t like the sound of remote support but when you thing about it:

If I want to ask a question of a collegue in practice I usually send a task or patient note so there’s an audt trail, That message arrives at the same time whether you are 2 doors down the corridor or 200 miles away

Services such at Skype or Zoom make Video conferences much easier than it used to be and allows a degree of face to face working.

Medacy have invested in laptops and have all the data protection policies and procedure in place and have completed The NHS Digital Data Security and Protection Toolkit.

• Processing out-patient treatment recomendations

• Completing tasks or patient notes
