PCN underspend by between 5-20% on ARRS funding

GP Online reports that PCNs could miss out on tens of millions of pounds of funding.

PCN underspend in 2020/21 could amount to tens of millions of pounds of missed funding for Primary Care Networks. This is at a time when clinicians are snowed under with the COVID vaccination plans. They are also looking with trepidation at the future as we exit lockdown. The future is likely to see an avalanche of appointments and delayed reviews and blood tests.

How to spend the ARRS funding for 2020/21

Medacy offers a turn-key pharmacist-led clinical service. This service could offer a solution to the underspend challenge and manage workload for 2021/22. Medacy employs a team of experienced Independent Prescribing Pharmacists who can instantly deliver clinical services at a practice, PCN or CCG level. Medacy design the clinical service around the needs of each practice, PCN or CCG and offers excellent value for money:

Why use Medacy for 2020/21?

  • The pharmacist-led clinical service can be switched on quickly, and therefore there is no danger of losing funding for this financial year.
  • Medacy have experience supporting PCNs across England from Cornwall to Carlise, across to Kent and many points in between.
  • Robust systems in place for recruitment, clinical governance and staff development
  • Medacy offers remote support, so we don’t need to find suitable clinical pharmacists within travelling distance of your practice.

And why use Medacy in 2021/21?

Medacy is excited by the opportunities in the next 12 months. PCN pharmacists have been focused on Structured Medication Reviews and supporting Care Home patients this year, but they can do so much more. Clinical Pharmacists are experts in medications, and we need to allow them to realise their full potential.

We are particularly excited to develop our Clinical Hubs concept. Medacy Clinical Hubs deliver patient-centred care designed around the needs of the patient and clinicians. Medacy is working with partners in PCNs, CCGs, ICSs and Secondary Care Trusts to deliver improved care for patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis and with Anticoagulation needs, and we are working on plans for Clinical Hubs to support patients with Asthma, T2DM and COPD. If you would like more information about the Medacy Clinical Hubs concept, please feel free to get in touch via one of the channels below.
